I tried setting up a pair with my Yamaha MOXF8. But the sound from ATH-M50's sounded better for 1/3 the cost.

These get their rep for being a neutral sounding speaker. I've heard a lot of others around this budget that tends to be bass heavy. I like to mix on these speakers.

To echo what others have said, these are great for mixing music. They are designed to highlight any flaws in your mix to allow your final product to sound good on a variety of sound systems -- which also means that if you use them to listen to media that wasn't mixed well, it might sound worse than it would in your average speaker.

At this price you're saving $120 on the pair of HS5. Super slick deal!
