Did the one you buy have the satellite speakers with it? If so just understand those don't come with this. You have to pay 250 to those.

q990 is not worth 1200 bucks. It routinely goes on sale in the 750-850 range with epp

I've been using this for about a year now and we really like it! It's not true surround sound, it never will be. But it's a convincing mimicry and easily the best soundbar we've ever owned. Ease of use is the main reason you'd get one. For us, this is it until better wireless surround systems come on the market for a reasonable price.

If you have easily accessed power, then yea probably best to get a true 5.1+ system. The q990 is an 11.1.4 system with true rears which might work best for you.

Vaulted ceilings aren't a big concern if you do the setup right. It uses your phone and the phone's mic for setup and will adjust it's 7 internal speakers as needed.

You can also add rears to this later but they don't go on sale often. Might be best to wait for the q990 to go on sale.
