This doesn't have an igpu. So you'll need a graphics card.

Great to see Micro Center bringing back this combo at the $200 price point... unfortunately for me it might have come a week too late.
I had a couple of upgrades I'd decided I could no longer sit on and had to pull together my own, much lesser, version of this deal via:

$35 CPU/fan new via eBay
I had to select for a 3000G (much less powerful, but still sufficient for the systems in question and with integrated graphics!)
$50 for 16GB of DDR4 RAM via local craigslist/FB marketplace
I was lucky enough to find a local kid parting out their system selling four (4) 8GB DIMMs for under $100
$70 motherboard via Amazon
This was a "lesser" B550 without Wi-FI, but I didn't need Wi-Fi so this didn't feel like a loss because what I really wanted was a minimum-cost B550 motherboard. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BTTZFQTP
So going through alternate channels I actually got a decent bundle price at $!55... but it took a lot of effort and I definitely got a minimum Win11 desktop horsepower configuration.

In contrast, this Micro Center deal gives you brand new gear with a warranty on all items from a reputable vendor. The configuration facilitates upgrading legacy systems to Windows 11 supported hardware. About the biggest downside here is the requirement for you to bring a GPU along (in addition to a case and power supply).

Good luck!
Jon

Just what I need! I need a cheap MOBO that has DDR4/M.2

What is the cheapest 5G?

They're offering a motherboard "upgrade" for the same price that swaps the Gigabytr mATX board for a Gigabyte ATX board - I'm going with the ATX board moerso because I'm replacing an ancient (AMD FX 8320e!) ATX board in an old build to leverage the nice case, power supply, and (admittedly adequate at best) NVidia GTX 1060 3GB that the existing FX 8320 mobo and CPU reside in.

Honestly with RAM prices the way they are, I'm not sure why this isn't FP here on Slickdeals.

Great tip! The motherboard is the Gigabyte B550 Eagle WiFi6 AM4. Personally I prefer building with more compact MicroATX boards, but if you have the toom the primary benefits of the ATX model board are:
  • WiFi 6 (802.11ax) on the ATX vs WiFi 5 (802.11ac) on the MicroATX model
  • Four (4) PCI Express 3.0 x16 vs. just One (1) PCI Express 3.0 x16 on the MicroATX model
(Note that the MicroATX model does include a single PCI Express x1 that is omitted on the ATX model)
  • The ATX model includes an extra water pump fan header and system fan header vs. the MicroATX model
  • The ATX model includes an extra USB 2.0 header

DDR5 is likely to eventually see universal market adoption in the long term.

However, it is fun to see DDR4 coming to the rescue.
https://www.techpowerup.com/34367...ddr4-dimms

I'm reminded of the response to RAMBUS on the desktop with the launch of P4 in the early 2000s. Though the fundamental market factors at play are different, the basic problems for the consumer (high cost and low availability) feel close enough for a little deja vu.

If you ever think you'll upgrade to a 5900XT or want to do so immediately with this bundle, I'd get the ATX board. That mATX board is 6+2 phase, and personally, I wouldn't run any motherboard with this kind of power delivery setup.

AI overview - The Gigabyte B550 Eagle WiFi6 features a 10+3+1 phase digital power design, specifically utilizing a parallel power design for the Vcore and 3 phases for the SoC. This VRM configuration supports high-performance AM4 processors like the Ryzen 9 5950X, paired with a 4-layer PCB and UD power connectors for improved stability.

Appreciate the comparison! Yeah I actually prefer the more compact nature of mATX builds, and find that even on mATX boards, a number of the expansion slots remain forever unoccupied. The existing ATX case of course as you know will support the mATX board, but the "dead space" left by a mATX board in an ATX space would trigger my OCD 🤪
