Can you elaborate? I just looked at Speed Queen's website and the cheapest washer seemed to be around $1,500 and the cheapest dryer around the same price, so you'd be paying around $3,000 for Speed Queen vs. $1,100 for this.

SQ is a commercial piece of equipment, designed to operate with minimal downtime and maintenance. Mechanical buttons and switches instead of electronics control boards. Has heavy duty main drive bearing. Uses more water in the tub to achieve good cleaning.

You DO realize this is for both washer AND dryer price, right?
Not that I am knocking Speed Queen but last time I looked at them they were TINY in terms of drum size. My LG Front loader lasted me about 20 years so I just went and got me another LG Front loader for around $700 (for 5 cf non-smart model).

The switches are no longer mechanical (they stopped making the last mechanical one), the washer is only 3.2 cu ft, and from experience you're still going to need service. Also, more water does not mean better cleaning. As someone that sold Speed Queen, I would not recommend them. They're designed to last, but they're rougher on clothes, don't do as good a job cleaning, and still require service (which can take a while). Personally, I'd go with LG, as I've been very happy with mine. Maytag and Whirlpool are meh now, and G.E. owns its own service company, which to me is a major conflict of interest. If you want the best wash, go with a front load and leave the door cracked open between washes so it has airflow and will stay dry.

Speed queen combo is $ 3,000. Many complaints about quality. There are 2 main models. One has an agitator that destroys normal household items, but is great at heavy duty clothes. The other is gentle but doesn't clean that well. After doing research, I passed.
