These are made from garbage chinesium that will rust in the dishwasher
It never ceases to amaze me how many people will use "does not survive dishwasher" as a benchmark for quality for all kinds of products that should never go in a dishwasher in the first place. Knives, vacuum insulated cups/bottles, hand thrown ceramic mugs, etc.
Werent these at one point one of the best brands? Wtf happened...

Knives should never go in the dishwasher, they should be handwashed.
Maybe cheap knives....
I put my Cutco knives in the dishwasher all the time and they look flawless for decades... They replaced one for free when I dropped it on my hard floor and chipped the tip, but no other damage at all.

Out sourced some of their brand to China. If you find a set with double standing guy and branded as Zwilling, then they are the original high quality German set.
Hopefully it is a good set. I just purchased one as my set was so worn out. Anyone has experience with this particular set? Would love to hear from feedback.
Have had a similar set for 4+ years. They hold up well. HAND WASH only

Somewhere along the line Henckels split into two product lines.
One product line that tends to be carried in department and warehouse stores that has a single "man-with-a-spear" logo, and one mostly sold by Zwilling directly that features a "two-men-and-no-spear" logo. The latter of those two product lines is still a higher grade with price that reflects such. The higher grade also specifically mentions both "forged" and "Made in Germany".
If you're the type that's going to hand sharpen or pay a professional to sharpen, then maybe worth the difference, but if you're like most people that plan to just pop these in the dishwasher, save the 75% on the cost difference now and just buy a new set in 5 years, I guess.

Sadly, it used to be true, but no longer true. Their "Twin Signature" series with a double standing guy is also manufactured in China (they say "made from German steel", but I have certain doubts about this statement). What makes is really cheesy is that they print "Germany" on a blade (referencing where the company is based), not "Made in Germany".
