I wonder if we'll see deeper discounts as they try to clear inventory

The 15 inch MacBook Air M4 with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD is being framed as a strong everyday Mac for most buyers, with enough memory for normal multitasking and even AI features that run mostly on remote servers. The Air's slim build, responsive performance, and excellent trackpad and display keep drawing praise, and the 512GB storage avoids the tight space concerns tied to 256GB models. The main hesitation is price, since Apple refurb, education pricing, and future M5 driven discounts could land lower. It looks like a solid value if you want the larger Air without stepping up to a Pro.
people who mainly do email, social media, and streaming on macOS because 16GB RAM is described as plenty for most Mac users and the Air feels responsive with no lag on the latest macOS.
buyers who want a MacBook that will last about 5+ years for everyday use because commenters point out that 16GB has been reliable in real-world M4/Mac mini use and that even earlier M1 8GB MacBooks reportedly lasted around 6 years without issues.
people buying during a sale window who want a straightforward upgrade from an older Air because the deal is called really good and commenters note the 15.3" 2025 Air is listed at $1079 with free shipping.
Mac shoppers who care about AI features but don't plan to run heavy local AI because commenters say most AI features on macOS/iOS are handled by remote servers, so 16GB should be enough unless you're doing heavy multitasking or custom local AI setups.
buyers who are okay with 16GB/512GB as a long-term baseline because one commenter argues the M4/M5 Air likely wouldn't need 24GB to run efficiently before it becomes outdated.
buyers who want to maximize value by comparing against Apple refurb or education pricing because commenters note Apple's refurb store price is around $1,019 and that education pricing could be about $120 cheaper than this deal.
people who are specifically waiting for a bigger price drop once the M5 is out because one commenter says this price isn't attractive since it's close to last summer's price and expects it to fall further (e.g., under $1000) when M5 pricing settles.
buyers who need more than 16GB RAM for their workload because at least one commenter says if you're needing more memory than this Air, you should step up to a MacBook Pro.
people who download plenty of games and are worried about storage limits because a used 15" M4 Air at $700 was considered good value, but 256GB was described as cutting it close for game downloads.
buyers who are looking for a deal that beats open-box alternatives because one commenter is actively asking whether an Open Box 13" M4 with 512GB at $800 is a good deal and whether they can expect something better.
