Some games can make use of the camera. Mario Kart World can show your face over your driver when playing online with your friends (The operating system does a pretty good job of recognizing faces and zooms in on your face). There's an expansion for Mario Party Jamboree that opens a set of minigames that use a camera. It's not widely adopted yet, and I'm not sure it ever will be, but it's a fun gimmick if you have a spare webcam. If not, this is here for $25.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, if you're in GameChat with friends, it has a video call on the bottom of the screen and your main screen shrinks a little upward. Again, neat, but also requires 1) a subscription, and 2) friends.

From what I've read there are some third party webcams that work with the Switch 2, but I doubt you'll see any kind of image boost.

Nintendo needs to stop paywalling basic voice and video chat behind a subscription in 2026. It's embarrassing and frankly upsetting.
