Most people almost never need these, but when you DO, they are handy to have around.

It's better to have a 3-piece set with Left, Right, and Straight cut, though.

Totally agree with you. Here is the Amazon Basics version with same cutting capacity 3 pack for $14. I don't know why the Craftsman version has such a long cutting blade. I feel like my hands would get more fatigued trying to cut more material with a single squeeze but thats just gut reaction.

This is for straight cuts, longer cuts where the repeated motion of the shorter length snips would cause more strain. Also, when making longer cuts with regular snips, you tend to deform the metal a little with each cycle, being a lot more apparent with more frequent cycles with the shorter type.

This isn't for heavy gauge metal, but works fine for most flashing, fascia metal, metal roofing/siding, or most duct work.

These do well for cutting mesh screens too. I am making a bunch of Gopher baskets for planting. The shorter ones required many more squeeze per ft so it was more work.

I disagree. Like a dremel, until you own one you never know why you need one. Once you do, you wonder how you lived without one.
