This 7 inch fillet and boning knife is being used as a sharp, well balanced trimming tool for brisket, BBQ meats, and other precise cuts. The high carbon stainless blade is described as very sharp out of the box, with good heft and a comfortable handle, and the same line is said to hold an edge well. The main caution is that it is not flexible, so it suits deboning and meat trimming better than fish work. The listing is also criticized as misleading about Japanese origin, since the knife is made in China and the steel is framed as Japanese. High carbon care matters too, because rust is a concern without washing, drying, and oiling.

Hoshanho knives are made in China, primarily in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province

Look at all the people in comments knocking on a made in China knife on their made in China phones and computers. Talk about irony...

BTW, deal is still valid, discount appears at checkout.

Ps. High carbon is prone to rust if user don't take good care of it.
"China phones and computers...." with domestic quality control standards and practices, top-end customer support, domestically produced software and IP. Not the same thing.

Also... Japan is known for high quality blades, a practice that goes back many many centuries. China is known for making phones and computers. I don't want Japan manufacturing my phone any more than I want "Chinese Japanese Steel".

And you don't see the lies... PROFESSIONAL JAPANESE FISH KNIVES... to me that means it is MADE IN JAPAN... and the fact that they advertisement does not say where it was made...

I can not trust this vendor.

Every single front page deal is PAID ADVERTISEMENT. So how did this make it to FP... well, the company contacted SD.net and inquired about how to advertise on their website and how much money that will cost, from their they agreed and ... and we got this advertisement.

Any other questions?
20+ years ago, FP deals were vetted by the members. Now, a "deal" can make it to FP without a single thumbs up from a member. I miss the days with vetting. Back then, at least you knew that if a deal made FP, a bunch of members, plus the FP editor, felt it was a good deal. People also used rep points to show that they appreciated someone posting something useful. To a large degree, that seems to have gone by the wayside, as well.

I think you are mistaken... it may have seemed that way to you but every deal I have ever seen on FP... IMHO, has been paid advertisement. Even those Dell deals from 15 years ago.

I believe you can still rep people but it depends on which browser you are using. I am using firefox with ublock origin and i can not rep anyone.
