This 7 inch fillet and boning knife is being used as a sharp, well balanced trimming tool for brisket, BBQ meats, and other precise cuts. The high carbon stainless blade is described as very sharp out of the box, with good heft and a comfortable handle, and the same line is said to hold an edge well. The main caution is that it is not flexible, so it suits deboning and meat trimming better than fish work. The listing is also criticized as misleading about Japanese origin, since the knife is made in China and the steel is framed as Japanese. High carbon care matters too, because rust is a concern without washing, drying, and oiling.

Isnt this the same? https://a.co/d/0bNMr7Lv
They are not the same. One knife is 12 and the other is 15-degree angle on the edge.

Made in china -trash
So none of the things in your house are made in china? If you do have, then be quiet. Who's fault it is to outsource to China?

Hoshanho isn't even Japanese name or word, it's Chinese in origin. The same kanji that represents 'he shan' is pronounced as 'Kazu zen' if spoken in Japanese.

I think you are mistaken... it may have seemed that way to you but every deal I have ever seen on FP... IMHO, has been paid advertisement. Even those Dell deals from 15 years ago.

I believe you can still rep people but it depends on which browser you are using. I am using firefox with ublock origin and i can not rep anyone.
You can certainly still rep people (on some browswers, anyhow). Problem is that not as many slickdealers bother to do so. As for FP deals. I started on this site 22 years ago. Trust me that in the old days, FP deals were vetted.

I just got it. I'm actually impressed. It's got good balance and heft. It's definitely very sharp as evidenced by the blood coming out my thumb. I rate this as a good buy for 25.

I don't care if it's Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese. Does it function well?

Since SD was sold to goldman, it's been garbage and mostly useless. Are there any OGs still working here? https://www.hearst.com/-/hearst-a...urg-pincus

Can vouch for these knives for the price specifically this fillet knife strong knife good weight/balance VERY sharp out of the box. Great for trimming meats for BBQ pork shoulder brisket steaks etc. Might want something a little more flexible for fish.
I agree it is not flexible. Agree it'd be great for trimming meats. I am thinking it'd be great to get meat out of Costco chicken!
