Seems like a great option for kids. No it's not a Pro controller, but it should be fine for playing Mario Kart with friends.

Just got an 8bitdo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth edition (don't get the wireless edition, both support BT and 2.4G but wireless edition doesn't pair with the Switch 2) controller, comes with a dock charger so your usb c port doesn't get destroyed, TMR joysticks so it doesn't suffer drift, has extra mappable buttons and a textured grip. It feels premium too. I wish I found out about 8bitdo before I purchased a few Switch 2 pro controllers. Controller joystick drift traumatized me with the Switch 1. I've also had my kids destroy my PS5 controllers' usb c port so having a dock charger that doesn't use usb c is a welcome bonus over OEM Switch Pro controllers.

I've used the xbox powera controller before and the quality is finnicky.
