While I like this soup, I can't imagine taking this risk and then having to take photos of the mess in order to get a refund from Amazon.

Here's the lesson... People like to blame manufacturers for loading their products with salt and sugar. The fact is they put it there because consumers want it. Many companies put out healthy low-salt versions but consumers simply don't like it. So don't blame the manufacturers.
We no longer tell our patients to avoid processed and ultraprocessed foods. Fact is, there are no studies showing that "processing" harm people, independent of salt and sugar. We now take the same harm reduction approach we use with drug addicts and sex workers. Instead of telling people to abstain from their "vices," which never works, we incorporate them to do the least harm possible. In addition to counseling, we teach heroin addicts how to clean their syringes and sex workers how to use condoms. Similarly, I tell patients to read labels. The labels tell you exactly how much sodium and other nutrients you're consuming. Try doing that with home cooking. That's especially great for diabetics.
So don't knock processed foods. Like anything, including home cooking, enjoy it in moderation.
