I've never had any luck with this stuff other than the crappie nibbles bluegills will hit them from time to time.

Mice tails worked great for stocked trout this year. I bought 4 packs for next year's supply because Amazon ran out/regular price earlier this year.

Carolina rigged, enough leader length to keep the bait and hook off the bottom/above the grass, enough weight to keep in place in current and cast far enough, #8 owner mosquito hook small enough to keep the bait floating. Tons of ways to hook it on YouTube.
