Not terrible if you want an affordable 5080 and either flip/sell with your swapped existing GPU (as long as it's decent), or part out the desktop individually on Marketplace.

My only concerns are the exact specs on the OEM 5080 GPU. I assume it's triple fan? Power connector (adapter cables or native PSU leads)? How do you control the RGB lighting with non Lenovo brand MB?

I hopped on the 64GB ram and 5090 version they were selling late last year and have zero regrets. These Legion PCs seem to be well built and bloatware is minimal. Good purchase 👍

It's working fine. Make sure there's no space after the zero.

I purchased the 5090 one last November but it seems like their 1200w PSU has some issues when I play some games. Have to manually tuning the overclocking a little bit to not auto reboot during gaming. It could be just me, it could be Nvidia Driver issue. Or PSU issue it seems to me most likely

I haven't touched the overclock for anything yet, haven't seen the need to. But Cyberpunk is up next on my play list and I plan on pushing this baby as high as I can at 4k so we'll see if that changes

I have one of these and as far as a major name OEM pre-built, I'm generally pretty happy with it. As far as the RTX 5080 that came with mine, it's Lenovo's own OEM version, It's very large, a quick measurement that I took the GPU is a little over 320mm, uses a native 2x6 12v connector and has a lot of RGB. It is very large and occupies four slots of space in the case.

It did come with a full size ATX Z890 motherboard, the only downside is like similar OEMs, the BIOS is very locked down on it.

Not working for me either. Perhaps it's not compatible with an ID.me discount?

I purchased an near-identical model with a 265K instead for $2089 in November. So I would call this a pretty killer deal in the current environment. It does not seem inflated.

As far as the machine itself, it has been solid so far, although the fan connectors are proprietary and the BIOS is pretty restrictive.

same question. Looks very close to Costco msi deal, Costco has better warranty though.

For those curious like me about this deal vs Costco. In addition, Costco has a safer return policy.
Key Differentiators

  • Processor Performance: The Intel Core Ultra 9 285K excels in multi-threaded productivity (like video rendering or code compiling) thanks to its 24 physical cores. However, it lacks hyperthreading. The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X is highly efficient, often drawing less power while delivering similar gaming performance and strong single-core speeds.
  • Memory Speed: The AMD build includes 6000MHz RAM, which is widely considered the "sweet spot" for modern high-end builds, offering a slight performance edge over the 5600MT/s RAM in the Intel system.
  • Networking: The AMD system features WiFi 7, the latest wireless standard. While you need a WiFi 7 router to see the full benefit, it offers lower latency and higher throughput than the WiFi 6E found in the Intel build.
  • Storage Configuration: The Intel system uses two 1TB drives to reach 2TB. This can be useful for separating your OS from your games, but it occupies more M.2 slots on the motherboard compared to the single 2TB drive in the AMD build.
Recommendation

  • Choose the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X system if your primary focus is gaming and general high-end use. It features faster memory, more advanced networking (WiFi 7), and the AM5 platform generally offers better future CPU upgrade compatibility.
  • Choose the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K system if you are a professional creator who needs maximum multi-core performance for tasks like heavy 3D rendering or complex data processing.
