Do not buy any jarred food from Amazon as they don't know how to pack glass (unlike Walmart which takes good precautions). I ordered eight jars of Rao sauce recently and Amazon chose to ship it six and two. The six jars never came as the cost was refunded without delivery. Apparently the jars all broke early in the delivery process. As for the other two jars, they should not have been delivered either. A leaking open box with broken glass was delivered in a USPS package container. I was shocked it was left by my door. In any event, I then secured reimbursement.

In this economy, buying this brand feels like luxury, but really good price with the coupon, so I indulge.

Probably depends on the warehouse it's being sent from. It never used to be an issue. Probably started before xmas. The jars are thrown in a box with a little bit of brown packing paper and that's it. One order, the three bags of chips I ordered acted as padding for the jars of sauce.
Their reckless, low standards for packing didn't start recently (last year). This nightmare has existed for many years.
If you didn't experience it previously, consider yourself fortunate.

Our family tried a blind taste test... They only knew it was 3 different sauces but didn't know what each sauce type or brand. I cooked Prago meat sauce, Raos Tomato sauce, and Ragu meat sauce. The winner was 1st Ragu, 2nd Prago and 3nd RaosWe also tried the Rao's Pizzas Cheese and Roni... Didn't like them at all.It was fun doing and revealing each jar of sauce at the end Wink
Some of these overly expensive, "luxury" pasta sauces can be a disappointment (especially considering the price)....but someone with truly discriminating taste buds would choose Rao's over both Prego and Ragu for certain!

Rao's....hands down! Although if you're on a tight budget, a few Prego sauces are pretty decent.

Recently ordered some cases of glass-bottled tea (Tejava), and all were damaged / returned to sender before they made it to me. I'll take that as a sign to pass on this, and buy it locally even if it is a little more expensive.

Is this brand really that good? I have heard great things about it - but the price seems really high compared to other brands.

How long ago was that? I am skeptical of Amazon's dubious shipping of heavy food items, but the last order of Rao's arrived fine. The jars were wrapped in bubble wrap that was heavily sealed. Other items like coconut water and grape juice are wrapped in sealed plastic bags.
