Great deal. Folks that don't have a costco membership and can't get the C909, this is a great alternative. All of the features for almost half the price. Just doesn't handle as big a space, and doesn't support the variety of filters (like the pet one or allergen one).

I quit buying Winix products. Just about every air filter we bought (6 or so) developed really bad bearing noise right after the warranty was up. Thankfully between Costo returns and credit card extended warranty we were made whole. I highly recommend purchasing with a credit card that extends the warranty a year or two.

It can be fixed, it should be better designed but it's the best for the money. Check out project farms video on air purifiers, it arguably does the best.

I have been buying Winix air purifiers for about 8-9 years. To the point where I have 6 in my house. I like them so much I bought 2 for one of my daughters and one for my other daughter.
All of mine run 24/7 . None of mine have developed this issue. Even the oldest one is quiet. I change the filters pretty regularly and vacuum out the intake fins on it and the inner housing every few months. I am not saying you don't maintain them but just putting it out there that any item running 24/7 needs to be maintained to ensure a long life. Maybe about once every 2 months or so I spend about 1 minute on each one while I am vacuuming our home.

Amazon also has the 5520 for $139.99. It has been that price for a while now. I've had it in my wishlist. The 5510 and 5520 as far as I have read are identical except the aesthetics of the front panels. The 5520 looks a little better IMO.

Not happy with the one I bought a while back. Just slowed to a crawl after a year of use. My Nuwave Oxypure Ultra is far more powerful and does a much better job!

We have Winix and Levoit air purifiers throughout our home and they run 24/7. No issues with any making fan noise yet. We also vacuum out the air purifier every month or so. Takes a minute, like you said, and does seem to keep dust from building up inside the things. I'd be buying a couple of these if I didn't already have all the rooms we spend our time covered.

Costco one comes with extra filters too,I believe. One extra thing to weigh

Mine developed bearing noise after about 5 years. While the replacement of the bearings isn't incredibly easy, it is definitely doable. The two Winix units I have use standard skateboard bearings so finding replacements was very cheap and easy.
