The Ninja Woodfire outdoor grill and smoker is a compact electric option for quick smoking, grilling, and air frying, especially where open flame is restricted in townhomes or condos. It can turn out fast wings and other weeknight cooks, and the smaller chamber is credited with even cooking and solid smoke flavor. The pellets are used for smoke flavor while the heating element does the cooking, but the smoke can taste a bit heavy or artificial, so shorter smoke times and a grill finish help. The base size feels tight for more than two people, and the XL is the preferred version for more room.
Common Questions (5)
At $289.99, several comments compare it unfavorably with past prices and larger models sold for less. The base model has been seen around $180-190 at Kohl's and the XL around $270 at Sam's Club, making this price feel high to some shoppers.
The XL is the safer choice if you cook for more than two people or want extra room for larger cuts. The base model can feel tight, and the XL is repeatedly described as the better buy at similar pricing.
Yes. The electric heat and pellet smoke setup makes it a practical fit where open-flame smokers or grills are restricted, while still giving woodfire flavor. It is especially useful for quick smoking without needing a traditional fire-based smoker.
No. It can produce good wings, tomahawks, and other quick cooks, but it does not fully replace a real smoker for low-and-slow barbecue. It works best as a set-and-forget option for faster results, especially when weather is poor.
It can produce a strong smoke flavor, sometimes described as a bit fake or too much if used heavily. A shorter smoke cycle followed by grill mode can help reduce that and improve crispness.

That's why size is an advantage for smokers: the fire has to burn very hot to get complete combustion and make clear, clean smoke, but many smoked foods need to be cooked at low temperatures for long times. The smaller the smoker, the smaller the fire, and it's hard to get very small fires to very high temperatures and keep them there consistently.
I had a cheap medium-large pellet grill that made amazing food if you cooked at 350F or higher, but absolute garbage if you cooked any cooler, because maintaining lower temps meant that the fire was always stopping, then starting again and belching out dirty smoke until it could start burning hot again.

For starters, the pellets are only for the smoke flavor. So around the middle of your comment where you talk about fire and stuff for temperature doesn't apply to this device. It uses a heating element to cook.
