I went from Maxwell's to this headset and its 10x easier to pinpoint player location in FPS games. The 560s is also wayyy more comfortable.
If you take COD or BF seriously this will make you a better player.

Free: Turn your android into a mic with apps like Droidcam (also turns your phone into a webcam). You might be surprised how good this sounds compared to something like a shitty Hyper-X headset mic.
$20 Samson Meteor - Start here and compare options (lots of new budget mics so I can't compare more recent ones)
$50-60 Skip this segment entirely. Trust me.
$100 Used AT2020 + interface
