God I wished this worked with the Nintendo switch

Edit: to be clear this is a no brainer purchase at $9 just to keep in your bag

So this wouldn't do HDMI to USB-C like AR glasses require?

Question from a newb to modern electronics here.

Would this be able to display phone's screen on a TV/monitor screen? Probably depends on age/quality of phone and big display?

You can. It'll just mirror. Even my oldest phones did that so I find it hard to believe that anything with usb-c now wouldn't. Some phones, like Samsung's dex, have a mode specifically for that kind of thing.

It reportedly works with the Switch 2 after updating the cable firmware. I'm ordering to give it a try

its still ymmv. For example iphone 16e wouldn't do video out via usb-c where regular 16 can.

Yes and no. I bought one of these years ago to plug into a monitor at work to watch netflix(had alot of downtown in between flights when I worked at the airport). HDMI will not transmit any copyright material over this cord.

I think that person is getting it mixed up with this other popular cable adapter.

I just tried flashing it, but it won't even detect the cable in my laptop ( I made sure that a 100W external Anker power source was connected as well). How did you manage to get it updated?

In the config.ini file, you have to update these two parameters:

vid- = 291A
pid- = 871E

The program will then detect the cable and update it. I did not need to plug in an external power source.

The latest version of the firmware is V20.00.40.00_804000.bin which is required for Switch software 21.0 and higher.
The link is below, make sure to download the firmware for the 8K/60Hz cable which looks very similar to the Anker Nano cable in the image.

I can confirm this cable works for Switch 2 mirroring with the newest firmware.
