The Quest 3S deal stands out for PCVR and media use at a very low price, with some reports of fast U.S. warehouse delivery and units arriving working normally. The headset can run Android apps, sideload software, and use third party USB C power injectors or a pocket power bank to avoid battery drain. The main concerns are AliExpress shipping and refund reliability, plus uncertainty about authenticity, warranty, referral credit, and whether the seller is truly U.S. based. A few comments also note Meta ecosystem and future support worries, making this a tempting but cautious pick.

I have only bought Lego knockoffs from AliExpress. It's been great. I have all the marvel and Star wars sets that would have cost thousands if I bought the originals.

I had the same suspicion about Ali, but ordered a few Viofo dashcams w/paypal a couple months ago. Shipping took a while but they all showed up and work just fine. Seller was responsive too, every time I pinged for an update. Maybe depends on the seller?

Got mine, looks like the real thing except the software is frozen, seems like they tried to mimic the UI and only thing you can do is browse the web, what a waste!

I get all my clothes from Temu and AliExpress, bout a few dollars each, no need to wash them, just toss it out after a couple wears, my skin developed severe rashes around my collar and nether regions though, not sure if it's related but I can't sit still without scratching constantly.

Don't do it, I bought a radar detector from aliexpress 2 years ago, it never delivered. Sketchy seller found a tracking number for some other shipment into my same city. Post office gave me a letter saying it never delivered to my house, that the tracking number went to a different address, Ali didn't care and scammed me out almost $300.
Did they give you the actual delivery address? perhaps the rock recipients are in on the scam?

You can also typically get it around $190 on vipoutlet
"get" is very subjective when it comes to vipoutlet deals

I have bought at least three dozen things on AliExpress. I haven't had an issue with a single one of them. Three of them were in the 100-$200 range, the rest were $5-40 range each. All of them however, I bought from vendors with high ratings and sales of volume. This vendor I can't see any rating, perhaps is a new vendor.

Is this the lowest the 3S has been? I'm kinda tempted to ditch Steam Frame if this is how low these things are gonna go, I'll still wait for the Frame to launch just to be sure.Like, I was pretty dead set on Steam Frame but more and more I realize its not ideal for how I like to use VR... I don't gain anything from being wireless, that infact adds more cost and hassle to me. I don't like charging vr headsets, nor the limited battery on Frame (3hrs streaming at most), which would require additional bulky batteries, their added costs and hassle of managing charges. Not for me. I want a wired PCVR first and foremost. Steam Frame has no way WIRE connect to a PC, since its economically built, i.e. nothing extra, Fully Focused on Streaming (3 Hrs worth) and Wireless Onboard compute (which runs for a whopping 1 hour). Big Meh from me on that for myself, everything else about it is so stellar, the optics, the steam integration/no meta bs, fov'eated rendering is an absolute gamechanger. But fk me I cant get past the Battery reliance.I was semi interested in the Viture line of glasses, while not the same as PCVR, they are so useful as a supplemental set, atleast for my use, Training/Tutorial media consumption and creative productivity uses, could grab one for like $140 it seems, but their proprietary adapters are such a rip off, $50 for a charging adapter so I can plug it into my Note Phone for Dex while getting charged, and like 70 or 80 for the unweildy HDMI adapter (since my 3080 doesn't have a USB-C with Display Port output). Basically a closed hardware/peripheral ecosystem. Get the glasses cheap, but spend a ton more on the stupid peripherals where you're better off spending the same on an actual quality VR set.The Quest 3S somehow seems to hit all the Checkboxes for me (almost). At this price point, for PCVR and Media Consumption or Productivity, with No Power hassle ($25 for a number of third party USB-C cable with a power injector for PCVR without battery drain). And has onboard compute, not to mention that exclusive Piano learning app I've been really enamored by. Leading Hand/Finger Tracking tech, arguably the best Controllers (the Steam Frame ones are allegedly cheap and lacking). The only issue, and its a supermassive one... is Meta. The account requirement, which sure, you can make a dummy account, but its still Meta collecting all sorts of data every time you're using it for 'analytics'. I don't trust them. Unless there's a jailbreak... I don't think I can go their route. (though maybe its possible to keep it offline if you're doing Wired PCVR? Google AI says sure outside of periodic updates, but its Meta... how much can I trust its not leaking data periodically when it does see a connection to server)I'm sorry, I've talked myself in a circle and none of the options are good as I lay it out.Steam, why did you have to lean so hard on Wireless Only?! The Frame was supposed to be the ONE. But, actual PCVR enthusiasts would probably prefer a wired connection's stability and unparalleled latency. Like I'm not playing competitive games in VR, but I can't imagine something like Racing games will funciton well in any Streaming environment, Foveated or not, it can't beat Wired. Not to mention Battery reliance.and Meta. Get your head out of my a-hole with your ANALitic collections. You bought Oculus, made enormous strides in the tech at such an appealing price point, then squandered it all into spyware garbage.sigh....Now I'm back to thinking the stupid expensive Big Screen Beyond 2 is the only real option. sigh. sigh. sigh. sigh.
Have you considered charging from a power bank in your pocket? I did that with a previous quest and found it much less restricting than a wired PC connection. Doubly so if you run the cable through your shirt.

Had shitty experience with ali express. Scammer will ship a rock to another address and Ali express will say delivered. Even if it doesn't go to your address.
Mine says arrived to my city post office, sits there for weeks then goes back to china, I get charged for it as it tracking says delivered to customer
