The Retroid Pocket 5 stands out as a strong value handheld for PS2 and GameCube emulation, with a 4:3 screen that suits older games and a setup flow that can auto install many emulators. Moonlight streaming also works well, and lighter Switch or PC titles can run too. The main caveat is that tougher PS2 games, some Wii titles, and Switch compatibility can be hit or miss, with several games needing custom settings or staying at native resolution. It feels like a solid midrange pick if you want a dedicated retro handheld without moving up to the pricier newer models.
Common Questions (5)
It handles many PS2 games, but performance depends heavily on the title. Easier games can run well and some can be upscaled to 2x-4x, while harder games like Jak 2/3 and Sly Cooper may drop to unplayable framerates or need custom emulator settings.
The $30 code and the PayPal $15 discount can both apply, but taxes and fees may push the final total much higher than expected. Several checkout totals landed around $185-$187, and the PayPal discount may not appear clearly until after checkout.
Initial setup offers to install a long list of apps and emulators, including multiple RetroArch, Mupen64, and Dolphin versions, but the PS2 emulator must be installed manually. A Retro Games Corp setup video is also recommended because the device takes time to configure properly.
Yes, GameCube and Wii games can run at 1080p on the RP5, and many titles are reported to play smoothly. The main caveat is that some games, especially certain Mortal Kombat titles, can show graphical glitches when upscaled, so native resolution may be better for those.
It is not a strong Switch handheld compared with newer Snapdragon devices. The RP5 can struggle with many Switch games, while the RP6 and G2 are reported to perform better for Switch and PC emulation.

Killer deal.
I used S25 ultra for emulation but having dedicated handheld is way better imo. Decent controller will cost you $70-80 so why not spend little more for dedicated handheld?
Purchased yesterday and it's already shipped. Shipped from Los Angeles CA.

Also, it is not Ayn's fault they have been hyped up to this walk on water level in the handheld world that they cannot keep up. Nor can they hardly quadruple their company size for 6 months to satisfy production (especially when things like ram and memory are so hard to come by) just to accommodate short term boom.
That being said, they could streamline their communications, order processing, updating lead times, etc. Those changes could be implemented by temp staff and SOP changes without completely rescaling their production footprint.
P.S. Yesterday was the last day of Chinese New Year so hopefully you'll get an update soon.
