The Retroid Pocket 5 stands out as a strong value handheld for PS2 and GameCube emulation, with a 4:3 screen that suits older games and a setup flow that can auto install many emulators. Moonlight streaming also works well, and lighter Switch or PC titles can run too. The main caveat is that tougher PS2 games, some Wii titles, and Switch compatibility can be hit or miss, with several games needing custom settings or staying at native resolution. It feels like a solid midrange pick if you want a dedicated retro handheld without moving up to the pricier newer models.

Thanks ordered one. Total came out 166.67. Getting 20% cashback so it ended up being $133.67 total including tax.
Killer deal.
I used S25 ultra for emulation but having dedicated handheld is way better imo. Decent controller will cost you $70-80 so why not spend little more for dedicated handheld?
Purchased yesterday and it's already shipped. Shipped from Los Angeles CA.

This is a good deal. I will say that if you have an old phone like Galaxy S20 / LG G8 or better, you can grab a Gamesir X2 controller (like $25) and pair that with the phone for very similar performance. Definitely not as good as the fully integrated system here, but maybe saves a few people some cash.

I do believe the Paypal promotion piece is dead. It worked off and on for the past day, but overnight even the $15 off offer disappeared.

Not bad considering the rp6 is going to cost you $90 more after shipping. Power difference is a lot but if youre not emulating switch. I recently ordered the ayn portal max for 265 bc of the bigger screen.
Where did you get such a deal on the Odin 2 Portal Max?

Sadly, Retroid is killing that one off too. If you already have an order in, I believe it'll be delivered, but they've announced they're discontinuing the G2 along with the RP6 12GB.

Ayn as a company is a pos. ordered odin 2 portal on feb 6th. Because of the "overwhelming order" and Chinese New year, I have yet to receive a shipping confirmation.
To be fair, Chinese New Year is a thing, the country just stops during the celebration....many companies close for TWO ENTIRE WEEKS. So completely not fair to call Ayn a "POS" for that.

Also, it is not Ayn's fault they have been hyped up to this walk on water level in the handheld world that they cannot keep up. Nor can they hardly quadruple their company size for 6 months to satisfy production (especially when things like ram and memory are so hard to come by) just to accommodate short term boom.

That being said, they could streamline their communications, order processing, updating lead times, etc. Those changes could be implemented by temp staff and SOP changes without completely rescaling their production footprint.

P.S. Yesterday was the last day of Chinese New Year so hopefully you'll get an update soon.

Ayn = Retroid. Same owners. Retroid is the lower tier line, Ayn is the higher tier line. They don't advertise it, but Reddit figured it out.

I would say this is overpriced for the tech, but with the RAM and chip prices combined with tariffs, this is a decent deal. I think you would be better off saving a bit more and getting the Pocket 6 which has the really good (and well supported) Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. This was top of the line last year and so many high end sets have the chipset that OS and roms are really stable and updated. I realize that $100 is a lot more money, but if you go up 1 more tier then you can stream all your games on PC and XBox, emulate some steam titles, and even run some PC games on it. I thin the Odin 2 Portal Base is $249 and that is a great system with a 7" OLED and the same chip as the Pocket 6.
