Not bad considering the rp6 is going to cost you $90 more after shipping. Power difference is a lot but if youre not emulating switch. I recently ordered the ayn portal max for 265 bc of the bigger screen.

Shoutout to Russ! He does such an awesome job on that channel reviewing and testing all these handhelds. Top notch production.

I'm getting "For security reasons your request can't currently be processed" when trying to apply promo code (I tried to manually type it in, and copy/paste)

ehhhh went for it. with paypal it came out to $155 and I don't think there's anything else near this price that can do better.
Any tips on how to apply the code? Can't seem to get it to work on my end. Tried 2 browsers.

Sure did. I got the promo to go through on the mobile app, but (despite seeing the promo active in my cart) didn't get the $15 off PayPal after checkout. Sending a note to customer service to see if that's something that gets knocked off later?? It says it should reflect at checkout

nope. Here's a starter guide, but getting emulators, bios, games, etc, you're on your on (for legal reasons).

Oh yes, that's mine as well... so does PayPal credit your account after the fact? On the promotion page it says "Promotion applied automatically" at checkout (I assume). I'm waiting on an answer from customer support

So this one is $200.49 - $30 w/ code USWB30 = $170.49. The PayPal takes $15 off that lowers it to $155.49. Then there's $31.48 in taxes (for me) added which makes it $186.97. So based on that there's a tax rate of 20.25% which isn't accurate where I am. My paypal was charged though $186.97 in the end. It seems like possibly paypal is correctly taking the $15 off, but possibly I'm getting charged the wrong tax amount as taxes here are supposedly 8.99%? Not too sure.

That's exactly my scenario, too. I just saw the final amount, and assumed it didn't take off the $15 promo for PayPal, but it looks like it DID take off the $30 & $15, but tacked on all kinds of taxes/fees beyond the standard ~9% tax. My total was around $185. Feels strange and inaccurate, but the discounts were definitely applied.

Don't waste your money, is a good system but the dam chip is 6 or 7 years old. U play up to ps2 but native mostly, u won't able to upscale most game. It can handle gc and wii but still just native and wii is hit or miss on certain games. Hold on to ur money and wait for pocket g2 or pocket 6 drop
Who upvoted your BS? When even this same thread has Retro game corps video showing it will play most PS2 games upscalled and every GameCube/Wii game upscalled...

Dos this run ps2? I've heard mixed reviews on ps2 performance.
I got this to run PS2 games, and to give you a straight forwards answer: Yes and No. It depends on the game. Something easy to run like Lego starwars is easy to run and is perfect. Jack Daxter 2/3 and Sly Cooper does not run at a playable framerate.

I would disagree with ayypoppiee, I had a RP4Pro, which is a DOWNGRADE from the RP5. That played every PS2 (and GC) game I threw at it. No issues except for God of War (when those red orbs appear) and that causes most handhelds to stutter. Worst case you can play at native resolution, most games you can easily upscale to 2x to 4x.

*That being said, for harder to play games, you may have to google "(game name) (emulator name) best settings." PS2 sometimes requires custom settings for games to get running perfectly. Only the highest end devices have the horsepower to (needlessly) muscle through the default config being poorly optimized for that particular game (or emulator).

Has anyone tried the Anbernic RG477V? Was looking at that since I can't find a Retroid Pocket 6 12gb
I just ordered one today from AliExpress, as I was waiting for the past few weeks to order one on this Anniversary Sale.

It's extremely well reviewed for everything up to PS2 / Gamecube emulation. It's not a great fit for Switch due to hardware compatibility vs a modern Snapdragon handheld w/Turnip drivers, and the 4:3 screen is a poor choice for widescreen content. If you want a 4:3 screen vertical handheld with a nice sized screen for older eyes, there's really no better choice. You can probably stick to the 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD model unless you want to try PC emulation. The 477m is great if you want a horizontal handheld, but I'd probably recommend those "better triggers" on Etsy to change it to a more modern trigger type if you go with the 477m. The 477m and 477v share the same screen, but the 477m has an aluminum body.

If you want to play any widescreen content, the Retroid Pocket 5, 6 and G2 are all good generalist handhelds. You can apply widescreen hacks which will adapt most PS1/PS2/GC games well to the 16:9 screen, but these aren't universally compatible. The RP5 will struggle with many switch games while the RP6 and G2 will perform better, overall. Those two newer handhelds (RP6/G2) will also emulate PC games much better. It's too bad the RP6 12GB was discontinued. This datacenter bubble is out of control.

You won't ever find a 12gb RP6 new now. It got discontinued.
