*That being said, for harder to play games, you may have to google "(game name) (emulator name) best settings." PS2 sometimes requires custom settings for games to get running perfectly. Only the highest end devices have the horsepower to (needlessly) muscle through the default config being poorly optimized for that particular game (or emulator).
It's extremely well reviewed for everything up to PS2 / Gamecube emulation. It's not a great fit for Switch due to hardware compatibility vs a modern Snapdragon handheld w/Turnip drivers, and the 4:3 screen is a poor choice for widescreen content. If you want a 4:3 screen vertical handheld with a nice sized screen for older eyes, there's really no better choice. You can probably stick to the 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD model unless you want to try PC emulation. The 477m is great if you want a horizontal handheld, but I'd probably recommend those "better triggers" on Etsy to change it to a more modern trigger type if you go with the 477m. The 477m and 477v share the same screen, but the 477m has an aluminum body.
If you want to play any widescreen content, the Retroid Pocket 5, 6 and G2 are all good generalist handhelds. You can apply widescreen hacks which will adapt most PS1/PS2/GC games well to the 16:9 screen, but these aren't universally compatible. The RP5 will struggle with many switch games while the RP6 and G2 will perform better, overall. Those two newer handhelds (RP6/G2) will also emulate PC games much better. It's too bad the RP6 12GB was discontinued. This datacenter bubble is out of control.
