This Moto G Power 5G bundle stands out as a low-cost way to get two 8GB RAM phones with Tracfone service, and the included allowance is 1,500 minutes, 1,500 texts, and 1.5GB for the year. The phones can be useful as backup devices, Wi Fi calling phones, or even media players, and the service can be activated later for gifting. The main catch is unlocking, since current Tracfone policy requires 365 days of active paid service and the bundled year may not count toward that clock. Software support also looks limited, with Android 15 confirmed and security updates ending around March 2027.
The phones can be used as Wi‑Fi calling devices after transferring service between the two lines.
The included allowance is 1500 minutes and 1500 texts per year, and it can be used across the full year period.
The phones can receive Android 15 updates now, with Android 16 still possible but not guaranteed.
The deal can work well for backup or media playback use while waiting out the unlock timeline.
Unlocking requires 365 days of paid active service, so the bundled one-year service does not shorten that wait.
Transferring service between the two phones can make the first phone no longer active, which can affect unlock timing.
Android and security support may be limited, with software updates ending at the end of March 2027 and no security fixes afterward.
Wi‑Fi calling setup can be problematic, including cases where the emergency address update fails and the Wi‑Fi calling option is greyed out.

I believe all of them are 6 months to 12 months.

Every year for the past 5 years, I've seen $40-50 phone deals were from these prepaid carriers:
TracFone, Cricket, MetroPCS, Boost, Total Wireless, Straight Talk.
Good to know, but those two prepaid carriers never sell you any phone & service for $40-50, then you can simply stop paying, and then get to keep the phones.

I have brand new moto Stylus 2022 and 2023 in a closet, and they no longer receives updates from moto. But I still add 2 stylus 2025 to the pile, just in case I guess....

Why are you keeping those old Stylus 2022 & 2023 around? If you're not using them, might as well get sell them to get your money back (plus some profit if they're unlocked). I usually don't keep phones for more than 2 years, cuz longer you wait, the more it depreciates.
I brought my 2 Moto g power 2024 phones from QVC for $70. Unfortunately, the phones didn't arrive until 1/21. As of today, the phones are still locked so I have to wait for 10 more months to unlock.

Same here, I also got Oneplus N200 for $40 from Metro about 4 years ago. But the N200 was getting old and slow, so I got rid of it to recoup my $40 back.

How did you sell yours?

When selling on facebook marketplace, many people will first ask if you still have it, once you responded, they will tell you something about how poor they are and how much their kids would like a new cpu or PS4, so could you sell it at a lowball price, etc. etc...
Log in to your account using your active Tracfone line. Activate the new phone while keeping the same number from your active line. The new phone will then have your current Tracfone line along with 1 extra year and 1,500 extra units in each bucket. The original phone will become inactive.
After confirming the new phone is working properly, you can reactivate the original phone with the same number, and everything will transfer back.
