I love the concept of a balaclava but I haven't figured out how to strap my helmet on when wearing one?

This one and the Under Armour Coldgear are both excellent. They need to be tight fitting, if they're loose you're completely missing the objective and they're not going to insulate well.

False, you want it to fit loosely so you have a layer of warmed air between you and the garment for insulation. Ask your favorite AI bot and you'll see the same thing

Depends on how you want to use it. For blocking the wind, tight is essential. If it's loose the wind gets in and around it and you'll freeze, especially doing sports where you're going fast enough (skiing, cycling, etc). For just walking around in the extreme cold, you want something bigger and thicker, and that can be a little looser as you can just sort of adjust it as you need to, including holding it up against a bit of really bad wind.
Source: I commute by bike year round in Wisconsin, and also ski in various parts of the US.

I don't know of any AI bots that have actually gone out in the cold with a balaclava on, especially while participating in sport. A layer of warmed air is great but the problem especially with a balaclava is that there's a giant hole for the face which also happens to be in the direction of motion... I'll leave you to think about what happens if the balaclava is baggy and air is easily able to enter that hole

The AI bot can kiss it. If you're wearing a balaclava you want it form fitting. If you need more insulation, you add a hat on top to retain the heat.

Had a coupon. Was only $10. Just got it today. And it's actually very nice. Prob pretty loose fit tho for most, because it fits my massive head somehow
