Time is money. Direct trade in with all is best if you value time as selling on marketplace fb or Craigslist is a pain and takes lot of them The difference in money is not worth the hassle to me with finicky buyers or time wasters.

This machine really needs more RAM. I just can't see going MB "Pro" and not doing 24GB at minimum. I don't care what the Apple fanboys say, a normie can easily get heavy into the swap file with just a few apps running and a ton of browser tabs open on a 16GB model.

Plus, MIcroCenter gives you 24GB and a 1TB SSD for only $100 more.

(I've owned a MBP of some flavor since 2008 and am a current owner of an Air M4 and Pro M5)

I had the same situation. I found trading in with Apple directly was the most hassle-free and got a decent value for the trade ($445). Can I do better selling on eBay or FB marketplace? Perhaps. But I don't think all the additional work is worth an extra $100-$200.
