Well, yeah, but if you're taking these on the go, it's easy to have a 20 ounce water bottle you can fill wherever and use one of these rather than trying to measure out a tub. You just have to deal with/live with the extra plastic waste.

stupid question, never used this type of product before, can you make a week worth of bottles at once, or does it lose potency/flavor/whatever?

I'd rather buy LMNT or Relyte. If you have an FSA/HSA you can save a lot of money that way with those options

if you care to, lookup home made lmnt, the main beneficial ingredients are super cheap (i think mostly just sodium, potassium and magnesium.

Where do you get them where you can use HSA?

Straight from their sites. Look up LMNT and Redmond's Relyte

Everyone is mentioning tubs of Gatorlyte, I've never seen those and I just searched and didn't find any. Can you link me to the tub of gatorlyte for $15?
There are no tubs of Gatorlyte, only packets and pre-mixed bottles. The poster claiming $15 is probably referencing regular Gatorade.

bro the entire world is on fire right now and we're on the brink of World War III, and the richest 0.01% are to blame for literally all of it. We're not going to make it. Plastic is the least of my concerns right now.

but yeah, I understand the convenience of this... it's just so much more money. The tub is $15 for 76oz, this "deal" is $18 for 12 oz.
A more appropriate comparison would be $15 for 94 servings from a tub of Gatorade vs. $18 for 24 servings in this deal. Gatorlyte has less sugar, so it weighs less per serving. By this comparison, Gatrolyte is about 4x more expensive per serving (vs > 6x more expensive per ounce).

An even more appropriate comparison would be ounces of drink made, as Gatorade powder mixes into 12 ounces of water, and Gatorlye mixes into 16.9 ounces (both per package nutrition label).
A tub of Gatorade = 94 servings * 12 oz per serving = 1128 fluid oz gatorade.
24 packets of Gatorlyte = 24 servings * 15.9 oz per serving = 381.6 fl oz gatorlyte
So the Gatorlyte is 3x more expensive per fluid ounce.

Further, Gatrolyte has about 3x the electrolytes of regular gatorade, so maybe it's a wash if that's the metric you're after.

The other flavors seem to be available for the same deal. FWIW, I prefer the orange.

The idea that Westerners skipping a Gatorade packet or switching to paper straws will make any difference when India & Africa dump nonstop truckloads of trash directly into their rivers & oceans is laughable
Yet America is the highest per capita pollutter in the world.

So that must be something.

I'm sure if your measure of "pollution" is something silly or GDP-correlated that's the case, but the original post was about plastic, and the sources of the world's plastic pollution are quite well understood if politically inconvenient (Africa, India, and to a lesser degree China, with America's contribution a rounding error).
