I'm a Proton Plus user for 4 years. Was waiting on a deal to renew. Saw the splash screen on the Proton VPN App and clicked. I ended up getting 50% off - effectively 2 years for price of 1 year. They provided me with a prorated total since I had paid through June this year. They have discounts on additional tiers offering more services - I just use ProtonVPN - and Mail - and they do have Storage included at Plus Level. I think you get 65% off new user.

Overall I'm impressed with Proton - they update the SW often - they have a great Support Forum on Reddit - also great support via email. Only downsides - their Mac and Linux Apps are not as robust and feature rich as Windows. I hope this changes.

I have switched from NordVPN to ProtonVPN.
I haven't noticed any major problems. I use it on an IPhone, Mac, and travel WiFi.
What I found is the ProtonVPN app for IPhone lacks a bit of user friendliness but it works well.
I liked that NordVPN allowed you to download a batch of server info to connect to for my Travel WiFi. In Nord you have to download one by one.

I got the highest account so I also have storage, which I moved all my videos from Google Photos to free up some storage. Everything is encrypted so it's a bit slow but not a major problem for me.
Overall 9/10 would recommend.

I've been a proton unlimited subscriber for about a year now in an attempt to get as much google/Microsoft garbage out of my life as possible and I really like it. VPN, cloud storage, password manager, and email with aliases, all end to end encrypted (except email to standard domains) for like a hundred bucks a year. Small price to pay for peace of mind and convenience IMO. Sure, you could self host all this stuff and save a bit of money, but up front hardware costs or paying for a hosting service basically negates the savings unless you happen to already be sitting on some older, pretty powerful and power efficient PC's that you can stand up as a server.

Proton has port forwarding, which if you torrent is essential. However if your concern is privacy, do not pay Proton with a trackable source. Recently they turned over payment information on Swiss (where they are located) subpoena. This was in regards to their Proton Mail, not VPN.
Proton still claims not to keep logs on their VPN, so just be aware if that is what you need. I use Proton and found that you have to use their servers that are high in number. For instance, if I use a Chicago server and it says Chicago 200, that will have already been banned most places so I have to keep connecting until I get a high enough server, such as Chicago 600 that will be fine.
Again not a big deal but something to be aware of.

I've used Nord for years and never had a problem. From what I understand, Nord has more servers and better apps. For example, the Nord AppleTV app lets you choose locations whereas the Proton does not. Important if you need a specific location. Not saying Proton isn't good.

One reason I went to Proton was I first tried Nord. Man, My speeds were horrendous. I even called into tech support. In the meantime, I downloaded Proton's free version of their VPN - speeds blew past Nord in my case. So, I canceled Nord and jumped onto Proton.
Try their free version for now.

This may have changed since you last looked into it. The AppleTV app let's you select from a list of countries before you connect

Any time I try to renew for 2 years at the discounted rate I get a small red pop up saying, "No flow for these conditions." My CC app says I was charged, but there is no confirmation email.

So either it isn't working for me or I have a decade of Proton VPN loaded up

Maybe you can subscribe vpn plus first for 2years @71.xx usd, then use the spring sales to update to proton unlimited one year only +7.xx usd, so your total is 78-79 usd for a year to proton unlimited, per month is 6.6 usd. Then wait black friday to add more, if you need.☺️

I got a surfshark deal a year or so ago for a 2 or 3 year plan. It works good for me on unlimited devices. Not sure where I'm losing but I got a real nice deal.

Existing VPN pro customers can get 1 year of vpn pro (only 1 year from the data of purchase, not one additional year added to the end of the existing plan) at a prorated rate WITH the 65% discount on the 1 year plan, using "MAR26SALE" code at checkout. So if your pro plan is running out in the next couple months, this will get you into next year with a discount.

Unfortunately this does not work with the 2 year plan which rings up at 50% off (4.99 usd)
