These will eventually make fan noise, buyer beware!
This! I've had 3 of them replaced because of this. They all have defective fan bearings that don't last more than a year, and why Costco got rid of them. Winix's other air purifiers are great (5500 is great), but these are garbage.

I think it's just the luck of the draw. I've had two of these refurbs and 2.5 years in, they still run like new. On the other hand I bought a 535 brand new that started whining at the 3 year mark.

Same, my new 5500-2 started whining about a year or 2 after I bought it and my refurbished 6300-2 hasn't started doing it yet and I bought them the same month. I have 9 winix air purifiers and 4 make the noise with my a230 just starting to make it would make 5. I really wish they would address this issue in there newer models.

You're right, luck of the draw. I have 3 C535s going 24/7 some full time max output, and 6 years in all are good as new.

Picked up the C535 @ ~$110 which is a solid deal, in my view

It's an easy fix with a 608 sealed bearing for a few bucks.
If I needed another purifier I'd buy them again. They are always this price though, so this isn't a new deal

But still functional.
