Looks like the wood is pretty thin and made of scrap of slats pieced together. Where those joints are will allow water to infiltrate and eventually rot. Consider this disposable if you buy it.

Won't ship to CA...but it also says it's only made to resist "mild weather", including UV rays which seems like a pretty important thing for an outdoor bench to resist.
