For anyone interested, I use this to spray in the spring to prevent weed start at the beginning of the season. Works wonders and might need another application later beginning of summer. I find this works better then these turf builders which I can't say if it ever work for me.

It says "Buy One, Get One $15 Off" on home depot (and $20 price) but the $15 off doesn't seem to apply

edit - apparently it's $15 off a different rip off sized bag of fertilizer (Turf Builder 11.32 lbs. 4,000 sq. ft. Weed and Feed5, Weed Killer Plus Lawn Fertilizer)

For those in the south, for the most part, too late for this, I assume?

I already put some down about a month or so ago... so if I'm correct, this is just an FYI for others.

Do you just put it in a pump sprayer?

I know some DYI yard sites say scott's is trash. I've used scotts for 10+ years and I get crab grass every summer, so I'm looking for something else this year.

Home Depot may be best way to go for some. The $15 can be applied to the step 2 Scotts application (Step 2: Scotts® Turf Builder® Weed & Feed) although it is only 4000 square feet vs 5,000 for the Scotts Turf Builder Halts Crabgrass Preventer with Lawn Food. This is enough coverage for me. Free delivery for both is about $35 plus tax.

I got this last year because I wanted a very basic fertilizer that wouldn't interfere with growing new grass. I didn't do my due diligence, because the crabgrass pre-emergent in this does prevent new grass from growing. So just a heads up, don't try to plant new grass seed with this, and it can take months for the pre-emergent to become ineffective or whatever.

Would purchase at HD. Online purchases from Amazon are often old out of date product that is being cleared out. That was my experience (once) and several Amazon reviews as well.

Thanks! I find applying in April (Northeast USA) holds off crabgrass through July, but then it starts budding late summer. A second application has held it off throughout the summer for me.
