If you want a warmer sound, check out out the Fiio FT1 Pro.
Last note: These are open back meaning you can hear noise from your surroundings. I like this because I can hear my cat meowing at my feet and it feels less stuffy.

The Sundara is a bright, very neutral open back planar that stands out for detail, imaging, and bass extension once it is properly powered and EQed. At this price it is widely framed as a strong value, especially compared with models that cost around twice as much. The main catch is power, since it benefits from a dedicated DAC and headphone amp, and the stock tuning can feel light on bass. Fit, treble brightness, and HiFiMan quality control also come up, so it suits listeners who can drive it and tolerate a leaner sound.
Common Questions (5)
They are generally bright, very neutral, and leaner than an HD600, with attenuated sub-bass out of the box. EQ can add bass and make them sound fuller, but without EQ they can feel light on low end.
Yes, this price is widely treated as a steal for a planar headphone that previously sold around $300. At this level it is considered strong value if you already have, or plan to buy, enough amplification.
Yes. They are power-hungry planar headphones and benefit from a dedicated headphone amp or DAC/amp stack; weak sources can leave them bass-light and may cause distortion on heavy bass. A desktop amp with enough current and headroom also makes EQ work better.
They can play from a computer or dongle DAC, but they sound better with more power and may not reach their full bass performance without an amp. A stronger desktop setup gives more headroom, especially if you plan to EQ.
Fit can be an issue: the headband may be too large for smaller heads and can wear out over time, while larger heads may find the stock fit less ideal. The open-back design is less stuffy, but some users end up adding comfort pads or replacing the cable.

E: decided to go with XS refurb deal I saw posted in Jan. here on SD instead of this Sundara deal.
Going to pick up the FiiO K7BT and 4.4mm to Dual 3.5mm youkamoo balanced cable.
Pretty stoked since I looked at headphones during covid lockdown and I think these headphones were selling for more than I am paying for my whole setup.

Only heads up I'd give is that the headband isn't great for larger heads. It will eventually wear out -- in my case, the plastic snapped.
