I use it to cool my 14900k. It never goes above 75c even when pulling over 200w. I also had a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 before that, which worked great on my old 12700k. Thermalright makes good stuff IMO.

Definitely a YMMV on it. I've had two 360mm Frozen Nottes have a pump failure cooling my 5950X. V1 and V2. I switched to a Peerless Assassin 140 that wasn't able to cool my CPU well enough. That tower cooler cools a 5600G and 5700X ice cold (never above 60C). I am now using an MSI A13 360mm AIO and it's good and quiet. Frozen Notte was great on temps but also has louder fans. Also only cost me $50 so it's hard to complain. Lost a few nights of using my computer because of it.
My brother and his brother in law both have a V2 Frozen Notte 360mm and both are running fine still.

I have their newer 140 air cooler on a 9950x3d with zero problems. The 9950x3d is 170w vs 5950x 105w. My guess is you had it installed wrong.

I reapplied paste multiple times, been building since P1 days. Case is an H6 flow with all fan spots populated. TCCD temps spiked to 88C while gaming often, cores topped out at 85C peak.Just not acceptable. I had a Noctua NH12us with the extra fan when I upgraded from a 5900X to the 5950X. Something about those four extra cores make it difficult. AMD didn't at launch but now their product pages recommend water cooling for that specific CPU.
5950X pulls 170W from the AM4 socket. Coretemp and HWinfo both show it.
Unless your 9950X3D has a 5090 it's not breaking a sweat in gaming. In Arc Raiders the 5950X goes from 40-65% thread utilization, fully saturating 16 cores at time.

Kinda disagree, and I have a custom loop.
Air isn't going to fail as hard as an AIO will if the pump fails. At best, you just swap a fan and you're back in business with Air, but AIO requires a pretty extensive gut.
I love water cooling and AIOs though, nothing beats near silence, especially when our systems are pulling down more power now.

All of the X800x3d chips even when running cooler on AIO didn't see performance increase with lower temperatures while gaming. AIOs are more beneficial for dual CCD or high wattage CPUs running heavy tasks that maxes out the CPU. Problem with AIO is the noise from the pump. During idle an AIO can make humming noises due to the pump but an air cooler will be basically silent. Not to mention air cooler have no real failure or leaking risk.

If all I did was Prime95 or CPU-Z stress test the peak CPU temps would have only been under 70C. While gaming with a 6800XT and full load on both CPU and GPU it simply can't keep up.
I even tried changing the top front case fan to intake, no dice. Those two fans on bottom are 140mm intake too. All profile set to 50% minimum and steady ramp to 100% speed at 70C.
I have the v6 version and have no complaints. It adequately cools my Ryzen 7 9850x3d with 9070xt build. Temps are in the 20s during idle and while under load (gaming/stress tests) it can hit the mid 70s. The only issue is that installing the cooling block can be a bit tricky as you only have 2 screws to line up. I find installing coolers that require 4 screws easier to line up and install. You also need to understand where to install/orient the radiator and set the directions of you case/radiator fans to get optimum cooling. In my opinion I feel that longevity will always be a question mark for liquid coolers so I have an extra air cooler on hand and I check my cpu temps regularly. I think this is a good deal but I would use a different thermal paste as you never know how old the included thermal paste is.
