I mean depending on the date, you could get very close to that price per night directly at the hotel and not be forced to stay 7 days in one place. There are so many things to see, I don't know why anybody would stay 7 days in Phang Nga

If I'm staying at a resort for 7 days, no need to spend 24 hrs one-way traveling from the east coast. I would rather go to an all-inclusive Cancun/Caribbean hotel.
Hell no need to go all the way to Mexico, you could vacation at Motel 6 off the interstate next to Wal-Mart.

Unless prices have gone WAY up in Thailand recently this rate is more per night than you'd spend on a nice local villa/room. Thailand is not nearly as expensive as these resort prices would lead you to believe.

this is like a 1.5 hour drive from the airport away from phuket. this should be closer to $400-$500 range given the location.
