The XX devices are decent for the money, good build quality and decent buttons. They can play anything up to PS1 well. N64, Dreamcast and PSP are hit and miss, the higher end games are not going to play well ==

I have the SP version and love the clamshell look, but find it inconvenient when playing some the higher end (PS1, PS2, N64) that utilizes the analog sticks. This is also nice it has the video player built in as well. Wish they made the SP with analog sticks. The clamshell design would protect the sticks from getting damaged when thrown in a bag.

I originally had the BatleXP G350 but gifted it to a friend when I got the black RG35XX Pro for the same price. This is basically a more powerful G350 with different colors, video out, and Bluetooth/WiFi.
The stock OS isn't terrible either. But I still ended up flashing Knulli which is great. If you do go that route, be sure to follow Knulli's discord channel for support.

Never was a gameboy fan. Enjoyed the 3DS and PSP, so I'd prob go to something similar first but this seems like a decent looking build!

Note that the Pro model is identical to the Plus model except for the joysticks, which are marginally useful on a console that can reliably do PS1 at best. The battery takes a tiny hit perhaps because of less space inside.

If you can get the RG35XX Plus for a better price, that might be the preferable option.

The BatleXP G350 (also an Anbernic handheld, but "secretly) and the RG35XX Pro are extremely similar. The H700 SOC is indeed up to 30% faster than the RK3366, which will give it a little more capability to play N64 and Dreamcast games, just not universally well.

The big differences will come down to the RG35XX having wifi, bluetooth and video out. The G350 doesn't have those, but it's generally $10-$15 less. The H700 and RK3366 will also have differing firmware compatibilities, but both are widely supported.

Both are good cheap handhelds for 8-Bit to PS1 gaming, and can play effectively everything inside that range.

I know this isn't a super helpful comment, but I really do think that if you A. just want this so you can play the games (as opposed to specifically wanting a dedicated device for that) and B. already have a newish-generation smartphone, you would be better served just getting some sort of gamepad attachment for the phone. It'll take up less space, and the phone will be able to handle higher-level system emulation. Using the touchscreen gamepad is no fun at all, of course, but it's manageable for systems/games that don't need you to hold down shoulder buttons. And the aforementioned attachment fixes that. Obviously if you want the dedicated device, this is a great deal!
I have a Retroid RP4 Pro, but once Apple allowed emulators on the App Store, I find I barely use it. It's just so much less convenient to carry around the extra device, despite the fact that it's an undeniably better user experience and the phone can't handle PS2 or Dreamcast games.

Or the 40XXV if anyone wants most Pro (one analog stick instead of two) features, in 4.0-inch display size. $45.91

Analog sticks aren't used much on PS1 and older systems anyway. It's more useful as retroarch hotkeys imo, and one stick is plenty for that.

Got my order in right before it sold out for $45. It shows up as $65 now, but it might come on again at $45 soon so I'd just keep trying.
