It's cheap but I wouldn't get this one. I am holding out for a dual bevel (more options for more uses) and sliding too to again have more use cases

This is barebones but will probably work for a lot of people

Its a pretty good deal, but this is something you buy once. Spend the money and buy the dual bevel.

As a person who's dad ran a building company single bevel is fine. This is more of a chop saw and still manages to get the other stuff done. We always used single bevel on site and left the sliding in the shop. Also if you have military discount you can order from Home Depot through Aafes and get it for $178.20 and no tax. That makes it an even slicker deal.

The Skil 10" dual bevel sliding compound miter saw with Shadow LED is so much better for about $50 more at Lowes. IMO one of the best saws for value. If you cant afford that consider the 7 1/4" version from Walmart for 179

I own this saw and amazed it still goes down to $200. The simplicity of this saw is great. The blade is driven directly from the motor (no belt). The ones that do a miter in both directions tend to have belt to shift the motor back, which makes the saw less reliable, less accurate, as it adds more clap-trap. 95% of the time your miters are symmetrical such that you can flip the board to miter the other direction. The 12" blade gives you over 6" of cut capacity (you can also flip a board and do it 2x, so that gives you more than a foot cut capacity, though you incur some error from how well you align your 2nd cut.) Sliding miter saws give you a bit more, but again add more clap-trap, error, and also add more safety concerns such as the climb cut hazard. I favor simplicity and accuracy for my saws, and the 715 is a great implementation of KISS.
