Never had an ebike before. To get to that 28mph, you need to peddle to that speed first? So the top speed is whatever your top speed is? Or is that more like a moped/motorcycle in that you don't need to peddle at all to reach that speed? Then the 60 mile range, is that at any speed or a lower speed, with lights and whatever else turned off and peddling at the same time? Given it is pretty heavy, I imagine once that battery runs out, it is a pretty slow ride after?

Exploding batteries? Lol
I buy them like anyone else, but that's real. The fire service has had to train extensively over the last 4-5 years for these. It started with electric car batteries that wouldn't go out and kept reigniting hours after they were finally put out and continued to bikes, scooters, and even phones and vape pens. We've had several tracked back to scooters and those hover board type things. You can see a lot of examples here Source: YouTube https://share.google/xwuiTovvMrc03VuLt

I would be cautious, with all the scammer sellers on Aliexpress, this has many red flags, including a 3 month old account.

The advertised range varies for all e-bikes/scooters etc. based several factors like terrain (i.e., uphill eats your range), rider's weight (the less you weigh, the more range you'll have), weather (batteries provide less range in very cold weather), and age (batteries lose range as they age). In this case, peddling can certainly increase your range based on your physical effort.

I'm referring to the specific seller on AliExpress for this listing. Even their name is weird, "ESKUTE Store Store" and they have only been around since December 2025 even though ESKUTE has been around for years. Just saying, all the red flags are there for your typical AliExpress scam store.

If I'm 6'2'' is this bike too small for me? I'm not gonna say I'm a stick when it comes to weight either, but I'm above average heft. If so, what are some alternatives/what should I be looking for?

Its not legal to use in California and they enforce it proactively by making it illegal to sell in California.

Which is different from the other states, where it is also not legal to use on public roads, but it is enforced sporadically and on the purchasers.

Except New Jersey, where this is also illegal to sell. Or even advertise.

Most states set the top end of an ebike at 750w and 28mph. Some, like California, add extra restrictions on those high speed, "class 3", e-bikes, like requiring riders to be 16yro and banning them from most bike paths and limiting them to roads and bike lanes on roads.

Since this particular 2-wheel vehicle exceeds the power limit, it is properly a form of moped, except it lacks a VIN number so it cant even be licensed in many states without a lot of paperwork.

Most places you tried they are not ebikes but some form of moped or motorcycle and likely don't meet the legal requirements

Canada limits ebikes to 500W and 20mph
https://ebikecanada.com/e-bike-laws-in-canada/

Mexico doesn't recognize ebikes (yet) so they are all motorcycles
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ele...cycle_laws

Australia limits ebikes to 250W and 16mph

They don't explode like a bomb, but they do burn hot and fast.
