For one thing, it's not ad-infested like the majority of new Kindles and Amazon is very user-hostile with their policy of not allowing you to own the books you license from them. Yes, license. Not buy.

Cheaper, more repairable, physical page buttons (which the Kindle Oasis used to have), direct integration with Libby/Overdrive

I've got a pretty extensive Kindle library, can I use it on this?

I've got the b&w. Really glad I didn't wait for a new oasis. Thinking about a second for the kid. He is on a 6 inch kindle. Kind of want to try the one from Onyx Boox but $290!

A cheap paperwhite from woot and jailbreak is another option. Can do everything this do except color :-)
So can the phone you already have. It's all relative.

Kindle's closest equivalent would be the kindle colorsoft.

  • Kindle colorsoft doesn't support writing via USI pens.
  • Kindle colorsoft is a little laggy. Although, Kindle's paperwhite is NOT laggy.
  • Kindle colorsoft is a little more expensive
But I personally don't like the USI pen on the Kobo Libra Color, and I would go with another product if writing is needed.
Kobo Clara Colour is fantastic though if you just want a color reader without the writing.

Calibre does this automatically. Just plug it into your USB port and select the books to transfer.

How's the software on this? How accurate is the digital pen? I've heard the color boox has terrible software problems, so wondering if this is as stable as the kindle.
