Definitely don't recommend with low quality lithium cells. There's always chance they randomly drain too quickly to output the amps required for the alarm to recognize a low battery to warn you. Better off with dollar store 2 for $1.25

These keep coming up. They appear by some test reports to be ~400mAh. Not 1400 and not great by WAY better than NiMh 9v.
I use mine in smoke alarms and digital volt meters, but mine are (tested) 500-600, AND I change them out every 6 months.

I worked at a smoke alarm company for many years and have seen a lot of tragedy from fires. I wouldn't recommend straying from a standard name brand battery. They are pricy up front but if you're going to stay in your place for a while they make sealed units with 10 year batteries (smoke alarm's have a 10 year life) so once a decade you replace the entire alarm but avoid the cost and hassle of batteries.
