Why wouldn't anyone pay $100 extra for the M5 chip that has 40% higher GPU score than the M4, and double the SSD/memory speeds? Retarded people like to find excuses for their bad purchase choices rather than get smart. The reality is if they were cost conscious, they'd bought during BF when Amazon had 20% off warehouse deals when you could've gotten a 216GB 15inch Air in Like New for about $760.
Basically this is a terrible deal. If this was $999 I might give it a second thought.

The 15 inch MacBook Air with M4, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD is framed as a solid configuration for heavier everyday work, especially editing and other memory hungry tasks. The extra RAM is the main draw here, and the 512GB storage keeps it more practical than lower tier builds. The main hesitation is price, since similar M5 or refurbished options are cited for less or only slightly more, including Costco, Apple refurbished, and Apple education pricing. It reads like a capable setup, but not the sharpest value if you can wait or shop around.
The deal can be more sensible when the extra RAM matters for your workload.
A Costco member may find the same MacBook Air configuration for about $999.97 locally.
Apple refurbished options can offer a much lower entry price for an M4 MacBook Air with 16GB RAM.
A refurbished unit from Apple can look indistinguishable from new and may include a brand new battery.
The price may be overpriced for shoppers who do not need that much RAM.
The price may have been about $20 cheaper last week for what appears to be the same model.
The deal may be worse than Apple.com college pricing or other promotions for the M5 configuration.
The M4 pricing may not pencil out mathematically versus an M5 upgrade without an additional discount.

Genuinely asking because I don't own a MacBook yet!
Is the newest MacBook Air worth the extra $150?

I normally wouldn't have bought a NEO and been completely fine for our household use but we recently purchased an Instacam X5 360 and it requires quite a bit for any editing. I was looking at Windows laptops but seems like they need at least 24gh otherwise with the 16gb it often becomes slower.
