Not a good deal unless it drops $200 more. M5 gives you a 512 SSD that is 3-4 times faster which is important for swap especially with the base 16 RAM. Other additions such as WiFi 7 and AI acceleration might be important to those who keep their Mac's for 4+ years.

For $50 more apple education store has apple air M5, 16gb ram and 512gb storage for $999.

Any idea how often they come in stock as a refurb? Been looking for a few weeks and either i miss them or just stays OOS

Just glanced, but looks like it's $989 for same machine, once you change it to the 512 GB. Even if I'm overlooking something, not everyone has a Microcenter near them.

Yes, I saw it display as 2024 too, which would have made it an M3 (because the M4 came out in 2025) then definitely not a better deal….not sure why there was a glitch, but after clicking through different configuration options for storage and RAM, it reset I guess

Like others stated, not a great deal. If you don't need something now, wait for a better refurb, or better yet wait for a sale on M5 air.

The 16GB RAM version was $850 from Costco a month ago but with a 256GB SSD instead of a 512GB. $950 isn't really a great deal, I'm with everyone else on this.
