The Jamo S 810 is a compact budget subwoofer that gets praised for strong bass in small spaces and solid value around $99. It fits neatly behind an end table, works well for bedroom or apartment setups, and pairs nicely with Jamo bookshelf speakers for music. The bass is described as more satisfying for music than movies, with low end around 36 to 40 hertz. A recurring caveat is audible hum on some units, so the cheap price comes with some risk.
Apartment dwellers needing a compact subwoofer, because it fits behind an end table and still sounds great for its size.
Bedroom setups with small bookshelf speakers, because it pairs well and makes a strong low-cost system.
Music listeners wanting modest bass on a tight budget, because it is decent for $100 and does more for music than movies.
Home theater beginners wanting noticeable bass impact, because it can be felt across the house and delivers strong punch for the price.
Listeners sensitive to amplifier noise, because the sub can hum even when powered on with no source connected.
Home theater buyers expecting deep sub-40Hz extension, because the low end is around 36Hz to 40Hz and the bass rolls off there.
DIY builders wanting a modular amplifier platform, because the plate amp lacks the built-in EQ, DSP, and power management they want.

DIY for audio used to be a pretty decent trade off in savings to performance now it is not as obvious.
If you need more custom stuff DIY reigns supreme. Lots of custom builds out there in home audio, commercial audio and car audio that if done DIY will save you huge money as in thousands.
Beyond needing custom gear folks like to DIY. It is no different from LEGOS or gardening.
I realize sometimes in DIY you save a bundle of cash and that can drive it but more often with the folks I relate to we do it because it is what we want to be doing with our time. Lots of the time very little money is saved, especially if you could be working some job with the time instead to make money vs spending the weekend building something.
Money and paying people to do things for you gets boring and can be very unfulfilling, while making a speaker or a deck is fun!
It should have factory equalization/DSP and power management characteristics built into the design that are set-up and engineered to match the JAMO product. I doubt you could easily reprogram any such DSP on the board. If it doesn't have those things in the design then maybe it has some value to some folks. Have to take and look at the boards and maybe have to measure the amp.
If I DIY subs I don't use plate amps very often though obviously they are right for many uses.
If you want to go full hog get some separate Crown Drivecore XLS (these are nice because they do have built in crossover options) or ICEpower or discounted Hypex stuff or any number of good options that are not plate amps. Allows for much more modular use in the future mixing and matching if things break or you upgrade. Pair with MiniDSP options or other things.
