The Jamo S 810 is a compact budget subwoofer that gets praised for strong bass in small spaces and solid value around $99. It fits neatly behind an end table, works well for bedroom or apartment setups, and pairs nicely with Jamo bookshelf speakers for music. The bass is described as more satisfying for music than movies, with low end around 36 to 40 hertz. A recurring caveat is audible hum on some units, so the cheap price comes with some risk.

Common Questions (5)

  • It fits well in tight spaces, including behind an end table, and is described as a good bargain for apartment dwellers. It also pairs well with Jamo bookshelf speakers for a compact bedroom setup.

  • At $99, it is widely treated as a strong value: one comment calls it the best $100 sub, and another says even a plate amp alone would cost more. It is described as decent for the money, especially for music and small-room use.

  • The listed low-frequency spec is 36 Hz, and a practical estimate puts the F3 around 40 Hz. That makes it suitable for music and small-room use, though it is not a deep-bass home-theater sub.

  • It can produce an audible hum even when powered on with no source connected, and the hum may get worse when connected to a source or when touching the amp. That makes it a cheap sub with cheap components, so it may be worth checking for noise after setup.

  • It can deliver strong bass impact in a house, with one report saying it was felt across the home during gameplay. For music it is described as solid, but it is not positioned as a high-end movie sub.

I have one but I'm not super knowledgeable on subs, works fine, if you are serious about home theater you wouldn't be looking at this one anyways

A FR spec with no +/- range is meaningless. Literally every speaker made can meet that spec.

+/- 3dB is the preferred spec, but +/- 6dB is also common. but don't compare a 3db to 6db spec against each other as they are still quite different responses.

also look at the THD as those can be very high with lower end subs.

I dont understand parts express. Its expensive as hell to build a sub. Might as well go to SVS and just buy one.

I have one of these paired with the Jamo bookshelf speakers. Outstanding set up for the money.

I agree, the cost/benefit of DIY on subwoofers is so low

I bought one recently and it is decent. You get what you pay for. I find it does more for music than movies. I like it for $100.

FYI, I got this from previous deal and this junk is humming when on whatever I do (even when not connected to source, power only). It's around 80hz. If you don't care about that I guess it's fine, but keep in mind this sub is nothing but junk.

Sounds like you've got a bad ground.

You could build a better sub for the same money as an svs. Obviously you would have to want to build one. Some people like that shit.

I have plenty of equipment in my house and this is the only one with this symptom. When I put my finger on the amp the ground becomes worse. Big Grin When I connect it to the source it's even worse than that. On the other hand, if I change cut off to something on higher end the hum lowers. But I don't need the sub with cut off at 180hz. Big Grin

This is just a cheap sub with cheap components and people should be aware of that.
