These 5 bed layer speakers don't affect your ability to add height speakers. Only your AVR will be the limiting factor.

Kind of crazy. I got my set on one of the frys deals back in 2009. Wish I could find replacement tweeters my kids smashed them all in.

Exactly what I came into this thread to check. Haven't seen them since '09?

Energy Speakers discontinued these speakers in 2010s, but they were a great bang for the buck when they went on sale at Fry's Electronic. I feel like there are better speakers today, but it's so odd seeing this being sold new today.

RIP Frys. Love my RC-70s and LCR center. This is a great deal on a well balanced setup. If the coupon code worked on just the RC-10s, I would buy two pair, but they're not worth $600/pair.

Got RC-50s during Circuit City liquidation sale like 2 decades ago. The two RC-70s alone in this deal is worth more than $800!

Tempted to get this to fulfill a dream of an all RC-70 channel system or as backups once the ferro
fluid begins to dry out on the tweeters.

I too have this same set purchased from frys long ago, funny to see them in 2026. I switched to sonos but I still have them. If youre looking for a component set this is a great price. The towers are pretty huge make sure you check measurements.

That's a good thread from way back, most especially using an amp to take these speakers to a higher level of performance.

I bought a pair of the RC-70's alone from Fry's in 2015 for $558 ($780 in 2026 dollars), and they arrived with shipping damage. I tried to get a $75 discount but they wouldn't budge. I went back and forth with Fry's for months trying to get a return and they kept stonewalling. I finally did a chargeback with my CC to return them - what a nightmare.

I remember that they were decent speakers for the price with smooth highs but I wasn't blown away by them - they are very "neutral" sounding and I wasn't used to that at the time. The whole set for $800 in 2026, that is a pretty spectacular deal. I guess maybe I'm a little concerned that these are already probably 15 years old, but I think the driver surrounds are butyl rubber which should hold up for decades.

If I still did home theater, I would definitely consider a set at this price. Hopefully, Adorama will ship them with better protection than Fry's did all those years ago!
