Ok. But 1TB (which isn't stated in OP) for $249 is slick?

Maybe I'm missing something, so can someone explain? I know prices are high right now, but even for these days it seems excessive. I haven't bought storage since the prices went up though.

The cheapest comparible/reliable vendor was Amazon, and it was $299.99.

$250 for 1TB? Not good, even in this market.

I realize it's stupidly expensive right now, but where is it cheaper?

Walmart had a deal for the WD BLACK SN850X 2TB at the beginning of the month for $190. I was able to snag one. This isn't slick what so ever, just gotta wait for Walmart to have those random drops

Well, that was three weeks ago, wasn't it?

That's fair for this specific model; I'm asking in a general sense, though. Is there something special about this that justifies it over a regular 1TB SSD? If it's just that it's for PS5, I wouldn't count that since you can use regular drives. The heat sink might be worth something, but on its own I don't think it justifies that large of a price difference.

Yea it was, I think I bought it on March 4th. I'm just saying that even though the prices are ridiculous at the moment, some good deals pop up occasionally, even amongst the storm of the AI bs, we will have a decent deal sometimes.
But $250 for a 1TB? A little too high for a slick deal, that's all.

Best price today does not make it a deal. There are endless items we could post for the best price today, that would be the worst historical price, and definitely worse than near future pricing.

There are no deals on storage now, but if you have to buy, an Silicon Power US75 for $132, or Samsung 990 EVO Plus for $165 are today's winners. Both are double their typical past price.

There are plenty of cheaper 1TB SSDs that should work with the PS5—if that's why you were focusing on this particular model. And an NVMe heatsink, if needed, can run you $5–20.
