Bought the "Large" one last time and my cats like it a lot. Definitely feel that the "Large" one is probably the smallest one I'd recommend, as even my ~6 month old kitten outstretches it.

Assembly was easy, but it seems very much like a product you should be able to buy new cardboard pads for, to replace as needed, but it looks like they just expect you to toss the whole thing when the cardboards all scratched up.

Would recommend the L or XL at least

It's insane what they sell cardboard for these days.

I This only glued cardboard and it won't last. Spend a little more and get something with carpet.

Almost talked myself into this, but you can get a really nice scratching post for not too much more than this. I have these Frisco 33 in tall pedestal scratching posts with super durable scratching material that I got from Chewy... They are $35 each, currently buy 3 get 4th free, often on sale for $30 or less. Those things are YEARS old and my cats have barely made a noticeable dent in them despite doing the majority of their scratching on them every day. I have a variety of cardboard scratchers that I got for $2-5 that last maybe a month before they turn into confetti. I imagine this wouldn't last much longer then you have to spend $20-30 on a new one since the cardboard doesn't seem to be replaceable. I would just buy a higher quality scratching post or stick with the cheaper disposable cardboard scratchers.

If you want something that lasts, get them a jute pouf. It's basically a small bean bag made out of burlap. Watching them roll across the living room attached to it is fun for the whole family.

I bought a very similar one. It was kind of a pain to assemble and you have to replace the whole thing once done. I'm going to stick to carpet towers or simple cardboard planks.
