Live at two stores and they had printed tags as they clearance out Fram Oil. Got it for $2.92 per quart. Bought up what I could for my type @ two stores. Unreal price. Kinda YMMV but confirmed it's not local. Once gone, it's gone.

I don't trust Fram filters and wouldn't use their oil either.

Dude. FRAM doesnt make their own motor oil. Its rebranded Amalie. FRAM Motor Oil is made by Amalie Oil.

In places like BobIsTheOilGuy (BITOG, the go-to forum for oil nerds with VOAs/UOAs), Amalie gets consistently positive feedback:
  • Users describe it as "very good," "better than it has to be," and "I'd use it in a heartbeat."
  • Their full synthetics (e.g., Elixir) run smooth/quiet, show competitive additive packages (good zinc, moly, boron in many cases), and perform well in used oil analyses (UOAs) with low wear metals and strong protection.
  • They meet or exceed API specs (e.g., SN/SP, dexos1 Gen3 for some), and PQIA (independent tester) results have shown them holding up competitively against bigger names.
  • Many people run them in daily drivers, high-mileage vehicles, or even performance apps without issues—some prefer them over pricier options for value.
Quality Aspects
  • Pros: High-quality base stocks and additives in their top lines; proven in real-world use; often cheaper than Mobil 1/Pennzoil/etc. while delivering similar or comparable performance; no widespread reports of engine damage or failures tied to the oil.
  • Not the absolute top-tier: It's not boutique-level like Amsoil/Red Line/HPL (extreme extended drains or ultra-premium additives), but it's far from bottom-shelf junk. Think mid-to-upper tier value oil—reliable for most vehicles if it matches your spec (API, viscosity, OEM approvals).
  • No major red flags in recent searches (e.g., no flood of bad UOAs or complaints about shearing, sludge, or consumption beyond normal).
