Got one of these last time it was a SD, very disappointed. It doesn't have enough torque to put together a cheap side stand I bought off Amazon with pre-drilled pilot holes so I just got out a hand screwdriver instead. It's supposed to make those kind of tasks faster and easier but it can't even handle that. I wanted to like it but honestly it was a waste of money.

I agree. I have this from a previous deal and could never completely drive a cheap 1 or 2 inch screw through a pre drilled hole.

I third this. Bought on prior SD and have yet to find anything it works for. Disappointed.

"Torque setting" is NOT a clutch, It's a digital "power" setting, ie motor voltage

Shocked to hear this. Have had this for years and love it. Have used it to put together every kind of item. Wondering if everyone realizes there is a setting with different torque levels?

Yeah, we know, it doesn't work. It's a POS.

This is for tightening light switches and light duty items. I cannot imagine someone trying to use this like a regular 12v or 18v drill or impact.

Well a lot of people would disagree. It doesn't do what it's supposed to do and nobody is expecting a lot.

So driving a 1 inch screw into into a pre-drilled pilot hole requires an impact driver? Seriously?

Don't do it. I replaced an old 4V Ryobi 'gun' version that I lost with this. It's weak af. It constantly stalls out. Half the time I'm manually driving in the screw after it fails half-way and I'm not talking about driving screws into wood here, I'm talking things like screwing in a power outlet to a box. My main use for this thing was to build 'hand screw only' furniture with pre-drilled and tapped holes where a hand screwdriver is more than sufficient but tedious to use. This is exactly what this kind of thing should be made for but it can't even handle that half the time.

I tried to put a wall mount bracket on the back of my TV last weekend. It couldn't drive the screws into the back of the TV all the way without stalling out.

I have the older version and love it. I have this one and it doesn't quite do it for me. The new version isn't any stronger than the old. But it does work better in the sense that you can twist it like a manual driver when it wont move anymore where the old one doesn't lock as if it was a ratchet that wasn't set. The old one is more responsive too which is weirdly a problem if you use it a lot, I do.

Just have to chime in, have had this for a few years, out the box it seemed ok for small tasks but now the torque is just pathetic, 9/10 times I have to hand tighten or loosen
