Better off spending more (or at least waiting on a better deal) for the vertical version. This damn thing uses a suction cup to maintain stability.

A sharp knife and patience is cheaper.

And walking 20 miles is cheaper than driving. Doesn't mean its the best option.

Exactly, you don't need this unless you own a restaurant or you plan to eat fries with every meal.

Got a similar one a bit ago, and it sucks. You're fighting it the whole time, you can't get much force to actually push it through, and food gets stuck all over. I have a junky vertical one I got from an old job 15 years ago that works much better, skip this

Best deal of all = not helping a shady retailer compile their database with your use and phone data. Dont buy from that shady app.

I'm not sure. The ER can be quite expensive.

I was a chef for 10 years. Got my knife skills down pretty well. Cut off the edges of a good Russet potato to make it into a rectangle. Slice 1/8" strips, then slice the strips into 1/8" fries. I've always been amazed at the yield on fries with a single potato. 2 large baking potatoes will give enough fries for about 4 people.

Poach them in heavily salted water for about 3 minutes and let them steam dry as they cool.

I like to toss mine in potato starch, but that's optional.

Get your favorite oil to 375F in a pot deep enough to submerge the fries, and fry in small batches. Do not overload-the fries should be able to freely move around. 4-5 minutes.

Put fries in a metal bowl and toss with some salt, then dump onto a sheetpan.

Keep the batches in a 200F oven while you're making them.

Poof- you have fast-food quality french fries

Some of us get big bags of potatoes really cheap, sometimes free. No way to eat all of them so I make 5lbs of fries or diced potatoes at a time and freeze them.

This tool was a Godsend. Well, not this one, this one is junky and plastic, but the better quality all metal ones for $60 are well worth the money. This one, not so much.

that's because this is a junky model. You can tell by the rear plate, the four rods, and where the lever is placed. Not enough leverage for enough force, and those rods bind up.

I too have a good restaurant quality one, they are only $20 more, and I can do 2 potatoes at a time with ease.
