Not sure how this is a Frontpage deal when there are a ton of the same(with more reviews) listed for the same price or close regularly.

FYI, USA Vine Voice reviewers are not paid, they in fact have to pay income tax on any item they choose. So in effect it is a steep discount, but by no means free, and more often than not the items received have a super inflated price inmitially that is the basis for that income tax.
That said, def ignore any reviews that appear to be AI generated or don't show the product in use, b/c there's always lazy ass people out there not upholding their end of the program. This product's Vine reviewers appear genuine. Source: I have been in the Vine program for almost 3 years (I was not offered nor reviewed this particular item though).

Also historical price is $13.99 , not $ 19 as suggested.

I always understood that Vine Voice reviews basically got the item for free (minus taxes) in exchange for a detailed review.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you get selected for the Vine program? I've been wanting to join and often leave detailed reviews, so I feel like I'd be a good fit.

Appreciate any info you'd be willing to share.

Well, as I said, we pay the Feds taxes on the items, so they are not "free".
No one knows the Amazon algorithm for getting an invite to the program. It's an oft discussed question on socials, and full of theories, but that's where it ends.

If you are given a free house by a parent in their will you still pay taxes on the exchange... anytime you are provided something of value, it's technically taxed on its valueSo being given something free is still free... having to pay a third party taxes on the free item still makes it free. Did you pay the seller for the item? No? Then it was free.

with you on this - the semantics quibling is kinda kneejerk. verbiage aside, an incentivized review automatically suspect.

In December I saw some amazon vine reviews, and like you, wondered about it. I did a quick search of my email and found an email from late 2022 inviting me to participate in amazon vine that I must have glossed over. I clicked the link and it still worked in December of 2025. If you've been actively posting reviews on amazon for a while it's worth just doing a search for amazon vine in your email, you never know!

There's zero incentive to give a positive review though. I'll tear an item apart on amazon vine because often it's not even really something I wanted, just a curiosity to fill a quota. At the same time, people are ordering things and then getting back logged on reviews and will try to knock out 50 reviews in a day just using whatever buzzwords will gey your review flagged as "excellent" by the bot judging reviews. There's usually a few really good vine reviews mixed in with a bunch of crap ones.

"are not paid, they in fact have to pay income tax "

The item is the payment. It's income. That's why it's taxed.

I also pay taxes on my income.
If I earn $100, pay $30 in taxes on it ($70 left), then buy a $63 item and pay sales tax on it (~$70 total).
Whereas you get the $63 item for "free" and pay $20 income tax on it.

When you get an item for 1/5 of what I "pay" for it, of course your concept of its value: quality is different.
...and the FTC/Amazon knows this which is why it's required to be disclosed.

Sadly, this is not the case for me. My inbox is almost always tidy (unread mail is usually in the single digits), so if a Vine invite was sent, I would have caught it Frown
